About the Role
We are looking for a talented User Researcher to support the delivery of digital transformation projects across the public sector.
You will work within multidisciplinary teams to understand user needs, identify pain points, and generate actionable insights that help shape accessible, user-centred services.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence the design and improvement of government and public sector services, ensuring they meet the needs of citizens and service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct user research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Carry out user interviews, usability testing, surveys, workshops, and observational research.
- Analyse findings and communicate insights to stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Create user journeys, personas, and research reports to support service design and product development.
- Work closely with Service Designers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, and Content Designers.
- Champion user-centred design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure research activities are inclusive, ethical, and aligned with accessibility standards.
- Support Agile delivery teams through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live service phases.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience delivering end-to-end user research activities.
Experience working within Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
Strong knowledge of user-centred design and research methodologies.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to turn complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
Experience presenting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within UK Government, NHS, Local Government, or wider public sector environments.
- Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and service assessments.
- Experience researching with vulnerable or hard-to-reach user groups.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Experience using research and collaboration tools such as Dovetail, Miro, Mural, Figma, and Microsoft 365.
