Summary: The role of UI/UX Designer & Developer involves creating user-friendly interfaces for web and mobile applications while blending design with front-end development. The position requires collaboration with product managers and engineers to ensure a cohesive user experience. The designer will be responsible for the entire design process, from wireframes to production-ready interfaces. This is a 6-month hybrid contract based in Cardiff, requiring attendance at the office twice a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design elegant, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces for web and mobile
- Create and maintain a design system with reusable components, layouts, and patterns
- Translate designs into responsive, performant, and maintainable HTML/CSS/JS (or React/Flutter) code
- Run user research, usability tests, and design sprints to validate ideas and improve UX
- Work closely with product and engineering to deliver cohesive features, fast
- Ensure cross-platform consistency and visual polish across mobile and desktop
- Use data and feedback to drive continuous UI/UX improvement
Key Skills:
- 2+ years’ experience in UI/UX design and front-end development
- A strong portfolio showing examples of clean, mobile-first, user-centred design
- Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
- Hands-on experience building interfaces in React, Vue, or Flutter (or equivalent modern frameworks)
- Solid knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, and performance best practices
- Experience designing for B2C apps with a focus on simplicity and emotional connection
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a user-first mindset
- Experience with design systems like Material Design, Tailwind UI, or custom component libraries (desirable)
- Familiarity with mobile development frameworks or progressive web apps (PWAs) (desirable)
- Understanding of animation/microinteractions to enhance UX delight (desirable)
- Experience working in agile SaaS environments (desirable)
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, UX qualifications or equivalent experience
