User Experience Designer

Summary: Experienced UX Designer needed for a contract role focused on enhancing digital public services within UK government projects. The position requires hands-on experience with the Government Digital Service (GDS) framework and a strong grasp of user-centered design principles. The designer will collaborate with various teams to create accessible services and communicate design decisions effectively. The contract is hybrid, requiring presence in Newcastle 3-4 times a month.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and improvement of digital public services.
• Work within UK government departments or on GDS framework projects.
• Design accessible, user-centered services in line with GDS Service Standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including developers and content designers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement based on user feedback and performance data.
• Communicate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
