Summary: The Unix System Administrator role requires a candidate with a proven track record in delivering support functions, particularly in systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and diagnostics. The position involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational systems are effectively managed and that 2nd/3rd line technical support is provided as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver support functions including systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage operational systems.
- Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support as required.
- Respond to users within set service level agreements (SLA's) and operating level agreements (OLA's).
- Ensure attention to detail and adherence to agreed build standards.
Key Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of UNIX/AIX, VMWare, and Linux.
- Experience with help desk systems and managing service requests/incidents/problems.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Proactive approach and ability to work as a team player.
- Understanding of ITIL framework (nice to have).
- Knowledge of IBM storage and SAN configuration (nice to have).
- Familiarity with Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), and Oracle Databases (nice to have).
