Summary: The UNIX/Solaris Engineer role involves providing support, administration, and maintenance for critical infrastructure on SunOS platforms. Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, support, and maintain Solaris (SunOS 5.10 and 5.11) environments.
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
  • Manage operating system patching, upgrades, and security remediation activities.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access controls in accordance with security policies.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed service levels.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
  • Participate in change management processes, including implementation planning and execution.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities.
  • Collaborate with wider infrastructure and application teams to deliver operational and project-based work.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with organisational security and governance requirements.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Solaris (SunOS 5.10 and 5.11) environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Knowledge of operating system patching and security remediation.
  • Ability to manage user accounts and system access controls.
  • Experience in incident and problem resolution.

Salary (Rate): £550 daily

DXP Talent is seeking an experienced Solaris Engineer to provide support, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical infrastructure running on SunOS 5.10 and SunOS 5.11 platforms.
