Summary: The UNIX/AIX/Linux Support Engineer role involves providing 2nd/3rd line technical support and systems monitoring within a hybrid working environment. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of key systems. Candidates should have extensive experience in UNIX/AIX and Linux environments, along with strong troubleshooting skills. The contract is initially for six months with potential extensions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support for UNIX/AIX, VMware, and Linux environments.
  • Monitor systems proactively, identify issues, and troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Manage and resolve service requests, incidents, and problems via a help desk system.
  • Ensure all service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs) are met.
  • Maintain high standards of attention to detail and adhere to agreed build configurations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Participate in an on-call rota (once fully trained), providing support outside of core working hours.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with UNIX/AIX, VMware, and Linux environments.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Experience working within an IT service management framework, responding to incidents via a help desk system.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and team support.

Salary (Rate): £500
