Summary: The UNIX/AIX/Linux Support Engineer role involves providing 2nd/3rd line technical support and systems monitoring within a hybrid working environment. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of key systems. Candidates should have extensive experience in UNIX/AIX and Linux environments, along with strong troubleshooting skills. The contract is initially for six months with potential extensions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support for UNIX/AIX, VMware, and Linux environments.
- Monitor systems proactively, identify issues, and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Manage and resolve service requests, incidents, and problems via a help desk system.
- Ensure all service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs) are met.
- Maintain high standards of attention to detail and adhere to agreed build configurations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills.
- Participate in an on-call rota (once fully trained), providing support outside of core working hours.
Key Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience with UNIX/AIX, VMware, and Linux environments.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
- Experience working within an IT service management framework, responding to incidents via a help desk system.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.
