Summary: The Unix Architect role is a 6-month contract position based in Edinburgh, focused on providing architectural expertise in UNIX/Linux systems within a leading banking client. The position requires extensive experience in system administration, hybrid cloud architectures, and containerization technologies. The successful candidate will join an existing team and contribute to strategic problem-solving and leadership within the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide architectural expertise in UNIX/Linux systems administration and architecture.
  • Collaborate with the existing team to enhance enterprise-level UNIX/Linux systems.
  • Implement and manage hybrid cloud architectures and technologies.
  • Utilize containerization technologies and microservices architectures effectively.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools and scripting solutions.

  • Experience in UNIX/Linux system administration and architecture.

  • In-depth knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, storage systems, and database technologies.
  • Familiarity with financial industry regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR).
