Unit 4 Consultant | Inside IR35 | London, hybrid | Day rate flexible DOE
Pigment is a change and transformation consultancy. We partner with other consultancies, government departments, and private sector organisations to deliver complex change programmes across the public sector.
We are seeking an experienced Unit4 Integration Consultant with strong, hands-on Accounts Payable (AP) experience to deliver an end-to-end finance systems integration involving Unit4 and Eye-share.
You will take ownership of the technical design, integration specifications, configuration, testing and controlled deployment of the solution. Working closely with finance stakeholders, technical teams and the client, you will ensure invoice processing, financial data and system integrations operate reliably across the connected platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Low-Level Design (LLD): Produce detailed technical designs covering field mappings, invoice processing workflows, validation rules, VAT treatment, cost codes, error handling and exception management.
- Integration specifications: Write clear API and integration specifications defining how Eye-share communicates with Unit4, including data structures, field mappings, interfaces, message flows, error responses and retry mechanisms.
- Unit4 configuration: Configure Unit4 within test environments, leveraging existing client configurations and components wherever appropriate.
- End-to-end integration: Validate the complete invoice processing flow across all three systems, ensuring data integrity, accurate financial postings and reliable handling of exceptions.
- System and integration testing: Develop and execute test scenarios covering successful processing, validation failures, rejected invoices, integration failures and recovery procedures.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Support finance users through UAT, investigate defects, coordinate fixes and ensure business requirements are met before release.
- Release and change management: Prepare Change Advisory Board (CAB) documentation, implementation plans, deployment checklists, dependencies, risk assessments and rollback procedures.
- Production deployment: Support a controlled go-live, ensuring the integration is deployed safely and operational readiness requirements are met.
- Hypercare and handover: Provide post-go-live support, resolve initial production issues, document known issues and transition the solution to the business-as-usual support team.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Deep, hands-on experience with Unit4 ERP, particularly Accounts Payable processes.
- Proven experience personally producing detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for finance systems or integrations.
- Demonstrable experience writing API specifications and technical integration documentation.
- Strong understanding of AP workflows, including invoice capture, validation, approval, posting and exception handling.
- Experience with financial data mapping, VAT rules, cost centres or cost codes, and accounting validation.
- Experience configuring Unit4 in development, test and UAT environments.
- Experience delivering end-to-end system integrations across multiple applications.
- Proven involvement in at least one full production go-live, including formal CAB-style change governance.
- Experience preparing implementation plans, deployment checklists, rollback procedures and release documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot integration failures and support business users through testing and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across finance, technical and business teams.
