Summary: The UK VAT Advisory Manager will join a global e-commerce business for a 12-month contract, focusing on providing UK VAT advice and supporting various business initiatives and compliance activities. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in VAT-related projects, ranging from straightforward to complex. The manager will also engage with the VAT Compliance Team and provide technical guidance on VAT implications for new ventures and regulatory changes. This position offers exposure to experienced tax professionals and diverse perspectives within the European VAT Advisory team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert VAT guidance for ongoing UK business operations and compliance activities, as well as new UK-based initiatives.
- Contribute to occasional cross-border retail and regulatory projects across the EU, ensuring VAT requirements are accurately implemented.
- Support the delivery and execution of VAT obligations arising from new retail business ventures or regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with the UK VAT Compliance team to offer technical advice and ensure alignment with current legislation and best practices.
- Engage daily with internal teams including Tax Engine and Taxonomy, Legal, Finance, Accounting, and various business units to ensure cohesive VAT strategy and execution.
- Participate in the review of commercial agreements, particularly those related to UK real estate transactions, to assess VAT implications.
- Evaluate and determine appropriate VAT rates for complex product offerings, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Respond to VAT-related queries from finance, accounting, and operational teams, providing clear and actionable guidance.
Key Skills:
- Extensive VAT experience gained within a large accounting firm, law firm or large or listed company.
- In depth VAT technical knowledge, in particular UK VAT and cross border knowledge and experience providing VAT advice to business partners and stakeholders.
- Experience working in the retail or e-commerce industry.
- Experience providing real estate advice.
- Professional tax qualification.
