Summary: The role of Interim Treasury & Pensions Accountant involves providing additional capacity within the Treasury and Pensions Finance function for a North London Borough. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Accountant to support operational delivery and strategic reporting, focusing on year-end accounting and committee reporting. This is a 3-month interim assignment with a potential extension, requiring hands-on experience in treasury and pensions accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on year-end accounting for Treasury and Pensions functions
- Supporting day-to-day operational accounting activity across both areas
- Leading on the production of Committee and Board reports
- Cash management and treasury operations
- Bank, custodian and balance sheet reconciliations
- Working closely with the Pensions Admin team (separate function)
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, auditors and external partners
- Providing additional resilience and technical support to the team
Key Skills:
- Strong Local Authority Treasury and Pensions experience
- Proven experience delivering Statements of Accounts in line with CIPFA
- Experience producing Committee-level financial reports
- A hands-on, operational approach within small finance teams
- CCAB qualification preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
Salary (Rate): £800 daily

Treasury & Pensions Accountant - Interim - London
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a North London Borough to appoint an Interim Treasury & Pensions Accountant to provide additional capacity within their Treasury and Pensions Finance function.
This is an initial 3-month interim assignment, working alongside the existing Principal Accountant to support both operational delivery and strategic reporting across Treasury and Pensions.
The Role
The successful candidate will work hand in hand with the current Principal Accountant to support key deliverables, with a particular focus on hands-on year-end accounting, operational treasury activity and Committee reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:
Hands-on year-end accounting for Treasury and Pensions functions
Supporting day-to-day operational accounting activity across both areas
Leading on the production of Committee and Board reports
Cash management and treasury operations
Bank, custodian and balance sheet reconciliations
Working closely with the Pensions Admin team (separate function)
Liaising with internal stakeholders, auditors and external partners
Providing additional resilience and technical support to the team
What's on Offer
Day Rate: £600 - £800 (inside IR35)
(negotiable depending on experience)
Contract length: 3 - 6 months initial contract
Full-time 36 Hours per week

About You
You will ideally have:
- Strong Local Authority Treasury and Pensions experience
- Proven experience delivering Statements of Accounts in line with CIPFA
- Experience producing Committee-level financial reports
- A hands-on, operational approach within small finance teams
- CCAB qualification preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
