Summary: The Transport Planner - Consultant role involves providing strategic highway and transport advice on planning applications for a local council. The position requires negotiation and progression of transport improvement packages with various stakeholders and responding to planning applications on behalf of the Highway Authority. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic highway and transport advice on planning applications.
- Assist with negotiation and progression of Section 106 and 278 transport improvement packages.
- Respond to planning applications of all scales on behalf of the Highway Authority.
- Consider internal site layouts and suitability of access arrangements.
- Assess and negotiate off-site mitigation packages.
- Analyze data and interpret transport modeling.
- Prepare draft reports.
- Travel to various locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Key Skills:
- Transport planning experience at an appropriate level.
- Ability to quickly learn new processes and procedures.
- Good working knowledge of relevant planning policies (NPPF, LTP4).
- Ability to analyze data and interpret transport modeling.
- Excellent IT skills on a range of Microsoft packages.
- Effective communication skills, including experience in presentations and customer engagement.
- Current driver's license.
