Summary: The Transport and Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational improvements, compliance, and management of plant machinery and fleet within a contract. This role involves ensuring maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards are met while managing budgets and performance monitoring. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to drive efficiency and uphold the client's brand integrity. The initial contract is for three months with potential for extension based on performance and workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive operational improvements through audits and inspections.
- Manage all plant machinery and fleet, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee vehicle allocation and implement a Vehicle Husbandry Plan (VHP).
- Organize training and ensure all drivers hold valid licenses and qualifications.
- Maintain accurate records for compliance documentation and implement tracking systems.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies for fleet and plant machinery.
- Monitor driver's hours and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Lead plant-related projects and ensure timely completion of statutory checks.
- Assist in vehicular accident management and incident reporting.
- Regularly report on performance and safety to senior management.
- Manage budgets related to fleet and plant operations.
- Uphold the client's brand and maintain professional knowledge of industry practices.
- Ensure compliance with legal certifications for plant and fleet machinery.
Key Skills:
- Full, clean UK Class 1 driving licence.
- Membership of a complementary professional trade body (e.g., IRTE, IMI).
- Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in relevant operations.
- Strong organizational, administration, and numeracy skills.
- Logical and analytical thinking abilities.
- Understanding of vehicular maintenance/engineering.
- Computer literate with proficiency in fleet and plant management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Significant operational experience in the Logistics or Transportation Industry.
- Customer-focused with strong leadership capabilities.
