Summary: The Transmission Line Structural Engineer role is focused on the design and analysis of transmission line structures, with responsibilities that include field inspections and technical expertise in lattice tower engineering. The position requires a hybrid work schedule, combining office-based tasks with occasional onsite assessments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead structural engineering tasks for transmission line lattice towers (structures and foundations) on complex projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in PLS Tower analysis and modeling of new or existing lattice tower structures in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ASCE).
  • Design and review of transmission line foundations, including drilled concrete shafts, direct embed, micro-piles, and grillage systems using FAD Tools, hand calculations, or similar.
  • Perform structural load calculations based on NESC, California General Order 95, and other applicable codes.
  • Support construction activities, including coordination with field teams to resolve design-related issues.
  • Assist with emergency restoration work involving wildfires, storms, or similar incidents.
  • Prepare engineering mitigation reports for damaged structures or footings.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to less experienced engineers and contribute to internal practice development.
  • Maintain adherence to QA/QC processes and company safety requirements.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships across internal teams.

Key Skills:

  • California Civil PE license required (Structural emphasis preferred).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in transmission line engineering.
  • Proficiency in PLS Tower / PLS-CADD.
  • Proficiency in FAD Tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings.
  • Experience supporting construction and restoration activities is highly desirable.

Role Overview

The Transmission Line Structural Engineer will focus primarily on design and analysis of transmission line structures, with occasional field inspection responsibilities. This role requires strong technical expertise in lattice tower engineering and the ability to support both office-based engineering tasks and infrequent onsite assessments.


Key Requirements

  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule(onsite & remote as needed).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license strongly preferred
