Summary: The IT Training Lead will be instrumental in the implementation and adoption of a new Timetabling Replacement System, collaborating with various stakeholders to design and deliver effective training resources. This role involves creating engaging training sessions and materials to ensure users across the university feel confident in using the new system. The position emphasizes continuous improvement and knowledge sharing to enhance user experience and system effectiveness. The role is based in Manchester and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Academic Staff, Professional Services, and Students, to ensure delivery meets a wide range of learning needs.
  • Lead the development of user guidance, training materials and support resources in collaboration with project SMEs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging training sessions and workshops through a variety of delivery modes - in-person, online, blended and hybrid, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Develop and maintain E-learning and video-based training resources to enable ongoing self-service learning and onboarding.
  • Demonstrate flexible and creative use of digital learning platforms, productivity tools and communication technologies to enhance and monitor engagement and understanding.
  • Work collaboratively with the Timetabling & Examinations Team, Project Team, Change Champions, and other key stakeholders to build confidence and capability in the new system.
  • Engage proactively with colleagues across the University to raise awareness of the project, share progress, and promote best practice in technology-enabled timetabling.
  • Build networks and professional relationships to encourage collaboration, exchange of ideas and shared ownership of the new system.
  • Support the development and coordination of communications, presentations and awareness activities linked to the project rollout.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of learning technologies, digital tools, and training delivery methods relevant to system implementation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training activities through feedback, analytics, and reflection, considering indicators of impact and behaviour change, and use insights to continuously improve resources and delivery.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of accurate, user-friendly, and inclusive learning materials in multiple formats.
  • Support colleagues to confidently use new systems and processes to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
  • Perform any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be required by the Business Change Manager, Project Lead or Director of Strategic Projects.
  • Comply with the personal health and safety responsibilities specified in the University's Health and Safety Policy.

Role Detail

The Training Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful implementation and adoption of the new Timetabling Replacement System. Working closely with the Business Change Manager, Project Team, and subject matter experts (SMEs), the postholder will design, deliver, and continuously improve training and support resources to ensure all users, academic, professional services, and students, feel confident and capable using the new system.

Responsibilities
