Summary
The Traffic Engineer position is a 6-month contract with a local authority, offering a daily rate of £202 under an umbrella arrangement.
This role is pivotal in supporting the planning, design, and execution of traffic management and highway improvement projects throughout the borough.
The position plays a crucial role in enhancing road safety, optimizing traffic flow, and maintaining the highway network's quality, all while adhering to relevant laws, policies, and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data from traffic, highway, and site surveys.
- Design and develop traffic management and highway improvement schemes.
- Create engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of parking controls, traffic regulations, and highway improvement projects.
- Contribute to the development of complex traffic and highway schemes.
- Prepare cost estimates and financial forecasts for traffic management projects.
- Issue work orders, site instructions, and technical guidance to contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure work meets specifications.
- Inspect completed projects to verify quality, quantities, and materials used.
- Review contractor invoices and payment claims, providing recommendations for payment approval.
Requirements:
- Experience in highways, traffic engineering, transportation, or civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in conducting site surveys, inspections, and data collection.
- Ability to produce technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience in monitoring contractor performance and site activities.
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, Highway Engineering, or a related field.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Additional Information
Working hours are 35 hours per week.
Payments are processed on a bi-weekly schedule.
