Summary: We are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer to support railway infrastructure projects by producing high-quality track designs from concept to detailed design stages. The role involves ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will manage design documentation and participate in technical meetings throughout the project lifecycle. This position is based in Birmingham, West Midlands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver track design packages at both Form A (Approval in Principle) and Form B (Detailed Design) stages.
- Produce all associated design deliverables including:
- Track alignment designs
- Design reports
- Technical calculations
- Drawings and CAD outputs
- Design assurance documentation
- Construction and installation support documentation
- Develop compliant track layouts, alignments, and geometry in accordance with Network Rail standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Signalling, Electrification, and Geotechnical disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and assurance processes.
- Support the resolution of technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme.
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable experience delivering railway track design projects at both Form A and Form B stages.
- Proven ability to produce and manage all associated design documentation, reports, drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables.
- Strong understanding of Network Rail standards, design processes, and assurance requirements.
- Experience using BRT (Bentley Rail Track) and/or PRT track design software.
- Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple project priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
