Summary: The Toolchains & Process Management Engineer will oversee and optimize software development tools and processes, ensuring alignment with industry standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and optimise the selection, configuration, and maintenance of software development, integration, and testing tools.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve software development processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate various tools into a cohesive software development and testing ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with systems and software engineers to provide guidance and support in tool usage and process management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to toolchains, processes, workflows, and guidelines.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for development and testing processes.
  • Collect and analyse data to measure the effectiveness of processes and tools.
  • Stay up to date with new tool capabilities, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing toolchains in an automotive or embedded systems environment.
  • Practical knowledge of tools such as version control (e.g., Git), build automation (e.g., Jenkins), CI/CD, static analysis, and debugging.
  • Ability to define, implement, and manage development processes across teams.
  • Demonstrates expertise in process improvement frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices related to automotive software development.
  • Practical experience in conducting audits and maintaining compliance with automotive standards.
  • Effective in providing training, guidance, and support to development teams.

Position Title: Toolchains & Process Management Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

  • Oversee and optimise the selection, configuration, and maintenance of software development, integration, and testing tools (e.g., version control, build automation, static analysis, debugging, and CI/CD tools).
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve software development processes, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and release management, ensuring they align with industry standards.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate various tools into a cohesive software development and testing ecosystem, ensuring seamless communication and data flow between the different tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with systems and software engineers, to understand their needs and provide guidance and support in the use of tools and best practices for process management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to toolchains, processes, workflows, and guidelines to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the development and testing processes.
  • Collect and analyse data to measure the effectiveness of processes and tools, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with new tool capabilities, emerging technologies, and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements to the toolchain and development processes.
