Tool Designer

Summary: The Tool Designer role at BAE Systems involves designing tooling solutions for the manufacture of components for Typhoon Major Units and Final Assembly build lines. The position requires collaboration with design and engineering teams to ensure tooling designs meet production requirements and adhere to high standards. Candidates must possess experience in tool design within the aerospace industry and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. BPSS Clearance is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with design and engineering organizations to provide design-for-manufacture input and create tooling solutions.
• Work with various data streams to ensure tooling designs are fit for purpose and align with production requirements.
• Collaborate with planning engineers and subject matter experts to ensure tool designs align with overall manufacturing solutions and assembly processes.
• Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure component interchangeability is achieved.

Key Skills:

• Experience in tool design and manufacturing within the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of engineering toolsets such as CATIA V5, PLM, SAP CAM, SFM, CDP, and VAS.
• Strong understanding of detail and assembly manufacturing processes.
