Summary: The role of Test Technician involves working closely with automotive OEMs to install, commission, and deliver test and development programmes within Test and Facility Operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Fitting transmissions, adaptors, and driveline components to test rigs or engines on dyno test cells
- Liaising with technicians, engineers, and managers working on test programmes
- Conducting engine testing on engine dyno and/or chassis dyno
- Performing basic engine test data analysis and fault diagnostics
Key Skills:
- Experience in building and stripping transmissions, engines or other rotating machinery
- Basic understanding and interpretation of test data with the ability to communicate information to engineers
- Basic metalworking skills and capability to use test workshop equipment such as lathe, milling machine, and welder
- Flexibility to tackle unfamiliar tasks with limited guidance or supervision
- Understanding and adherence to strict health and safety guidelines
- Experience in engine testing on a dyno
- Experience with engine test equipment and software (STARS, MEXA, Indi, INCA, etc.)
- Knowledge of engine DVT and sign-off tests
- Ability to integrate and work well within a small team
- Preparedness to work off-site for short durations (Ricardo sites, customer sites in the UK and abroad)
