Summary: The role of Test Engineer (NFT) at Tesco Bank involves ensuring system performance, reliability, and resilience through non-functional testing. The position requires ownership of the NFT life cycle, including requirement gathering, test execution, and result analysis, while collaborating with technical and business stakeholders. This is a backfill position for an existing contractor, focusing on significant upcoming projects and BAU NFT activities. The role is based in Edinburgh and is part of a 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in using LoadRunner for real world testing simulations.
- Lead and execute performance testing across multiple high-profile projects, ensuring systems meet scalability and reliability expectations.
- Develop and implement NFT strategies, including performance testing, tuning, operational resilience, backup and recovery, monitoring, and alerting.
- Design and execute performance tests using LoadRunner, simulating system load, ramp-up conditions, and identifying performance bottlenecks.
- Own the end-to-end NFT life cycle, including requirement gathering, test script development, condition data setup, test execution, result analysis, and reporting.
- Monitor and analyse system performance using tools such as DataDog, Splunk, and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, business stakeholders, and operational teams, to ensure test coverage and system stability.
- Provide clear and concise summaries of test results, explaining technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to Agile planning, ensuring NFT is integrated within quarterly PI planning cycles.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in Non-Functional Testing (NFT), including performance, scalability, and resilience testing in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong technical expertise in LoadRunner (including Scripting, execution, and result analysis).
- Experience with performance monitoring tools such as DataDog, Splunk, and other infrastructure monitoring solutions.
- Proven ability to analyse complex performance test results, identify issues, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Experience in test automation and Scripting, with strong coding skills to create reusable test scripts.
- Understanding of Agile frameworks and experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical results in a clear and concise manner.
- Background in financial services is preferred but not essential.
