Summary: The Test Engineer role involves working within a dynamic R&D team to manufacture and test prototype components using innovative materials and processes. The position requires hands-on problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues during the manufacturing process while supporting the development and documentation of manufacturing procedures. The role is a 6-month contract and is classified as inside IR35. An immediate start is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and test prototype components using novel materials and processes.
  • Support the development, improvement, and documentation of manufacturing procedures.
  • Assist in the commissioning and validation of new equipment.
  • Utilize close observation skills to identify and resolve issues during manufacturing.
  • Connect observations made during manufacturing with their influence on test outcomes.
  • Coordinate and schedule tasks among team members based on business requirements.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain equipment and record test data using data logging methods.
  • Create work instructions for manufacturing processes.

Key Skills:

  • Hands-on and engaged approach to work.
  • Adaptability and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Experience in electromagnetic coil manufacture and testing.
  • Knowledge of cryogens, electronics, and soldering.
  • Skills in resin impregnation and light manufacturing techniques.

  • Proficiency in data logging methods and recording test data.
  • Capability to create clear work instructions.
