Summary: The Test Engineer role involves working within a dynamic R&D team to manufacture and test prototype components using innovative materials and processes. The position requires hands-on problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues during the manufacturing process while supporting the development and documentation of manufacturing procedures. The role is a 6-month contract and is classified as inside IR35. An immediate start is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and test prototype components using novel materials and processes.
- Support the development, improvement, and documentation of manufacturing procedures.
- Assist in the commissioning and validation of new equipment.
- Utilize close observation skills to identify and resolve issues during manufacturing.
- Connect observations made during manufacturing with their influence on test outcomes.
- Coordinate and schedule tasks among team members based on business requirements.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain equipment and record test data using data logging methods.
- Create work instructions for manufacturing processes.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on and engaged approach to work.
- Adaptability and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Experience in electromagnetic coil manufacture and testing.
- Knowledge of cryogens, electronics, and soldering.
- Skills in resin impregnation and light manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to modify and rework components.
- Experience in maintenance of equipment.
- Proficiency in data logging methods and recording test data.
- Capability to create clear work instructions.
