Summary: The Test Engineer role involves ensuring quality practices are integrated into software development from design to release within a full-stack team. The position requires collaboration to enhance customer experience and reduce rework through effective test automation. The engineer will advocate for quality throughout the product lifecycle and contribute to various testing types and practices. This role is based in Manchester and requires a mix of on-site and remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure testing and quality practices are embedded in software development.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Coach the team on best testing practices and contribute to test automation implementation.
- Conduct various types of testing including Unit, Integration, and Performance testing.
- Create API tests and Contract tests with Pact Flow.
- Influence the team to conduct appropriate testing at all levels of the Test Pyramid.
- Monitor post-release performance and tracing using tools like Grafana and Honeycomb.
Key Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in testing and quality assurance.
- Understanding of various testing types (Unit, Integration, Smoke, Acceptance, Functional, End-to-End, Sanity, Regression).
- Experience creating front-end automation with Playwright.
- Familiarity with AWS and Gitlab.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills.
- Experience with non-functional testing, particularly Performance and Security.
- Experience with Java.
