Summary: The Test Engineer role at a leading automobile manufacturer in the UK focuses on test creation, execution, and delivery, particularly in the areas of test automation for MHEV systems and emissions testing for petrol engines. The position involves planning, developing, and implementing test processes to ensure compliance with performance and regulatory standards. Candidates will work within emission testing facilities, utilizing various tools to analyze exhaust gases and validate system performance. Collaboration with other engineers is essential to ensure the reliability of powertrain systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automate test processes and develop test plans for MHEV systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure quality and reliability of powertrain systems.
  • Design and execute tests to verify performance of emissions control systems in petrol vehicles.
  • Utilize tools and equipment to analyze exhaust gases and relevant parameters.
  • Focus on testing MHEV systems and ensure compliance with emissions standards.
  • Conduct fault finding and development/testing of Hybrid Systems.
  • Understand design and validation principles on MHEV systems and components.
  • Apply knowledge in Power Electronics application/integration.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in ICE and MHEV propulsion systems.
  • Proven experience with PiL/ViL testing and validation.
  • Test planning and understanding of emission regulations.
  • Knowledge of Gas path chemistry of ICE engines.
  • Calibration knowledge and sensor control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or electrical engineering (desirable).
  • Experience in VIL and PIL automation.
  • Relevant experience in powertrain systems engineering and Gas path.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical curiosity and strong analytical approach.
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
