We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer to support the delivery and assurance of critical technology services within a secure Defence environment. Based in Corsham, a key hub for UK Defence digital and communications programmes, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects that underpin national security and operational effectiveness.

Working alongside technical specialists, service teams, and Defence stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring that systems, applications, and infrastructure changes are rigorously tested and validated before deployment into live operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and test cases.
  • Conduct functional, integration, system, regression, and operational acceptance testing.
  • Verify that solutions meet business, technical, security, and operational requirements.
  • Identify, record, and manage defects through to successful resolution.
  • Support release and deployment activities within secure Defence networks.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, service managers, project teams, and Defence stakeholders.
  • Produce clear testing documentation, evidence packs, and reports to support governance and assurance activities.
  • Manage incidents, defects, and service requests using BMC Remedy.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across testing processes and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence security policies, standards, and service management frameworks.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Test Engineer within complex IT or Defence environments.
  • Strong understanding of software and systems testing methodologies.
  • Experience producing structured test documentation and execution evidence.
  • Hands-on experience using BMC Remedy for incident management, defect tracking, or service management activities.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within structured change and release management processes.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience supporting the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Defence Digital, or other secure government environments.
  • Understanding of Defence communication systems, infrastructure, or secure networks.
  • Knowledge of ITIL Service Management practices.
  • Experience within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
  • ISTQB Certification or equivalent testing qualification.
