Summary: The Test Engineer role involves supporting Engineering & Test Operations in planning, executing, and documenting tests for aerospace products, particularly braking systems. Responsibilities include creating test procedures, overseeing tests, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. The position requires a hands-on approach, with a mix of desk and lab work, and a focus on safety and efficiency. The role is based in Birmingham and is expected to last for six months with a potential extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of test outlines, plans, and procedures based on customer requirements.
  • Converting test procedures into step-by-step instructions for operators.
  • Preparation of test articles and equipment, including data acquisition.
  • Ensuring testing is conducted according to instructions.
  • Monitoring test progress and documenting results.
  • Data reduction and incorporation into test results.
  • Continuous improvement activities to enhance safety and efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology, aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to work on-site 100% of the time with occasional travel.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Research and data analysis skills.
  • Independent work and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of LabView, NI DAQ, and other data acquisition systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • High mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and excellent written skills.
  • Ability to understand and assemble complicated hardware.
  • Experience with workshop equipment and tools.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
