Summary: The Test Engineer role involves supporting Engineering & Test Operations in planning, executing, and documenting tests for aerospace products, particularly braking systems. Responsibilities include creating test procedures, overseeing tests, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. The position requires a hands-on approach, with a mix of desk and lab work, and a focus on safety and efficiency. The role is based in Birmingham and is expected to last for six months with a potential extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation of test outlines, plans, and procedures based on customer requirements.
- Converting test procedures into step-by-step instructions for operators.
- Preparation of test articles and equipment, including data acquisition.
- Ensuring testing is conducted according to instructions.
- Monitoring test progress and documenting results.
- Data reduction and incorporation into test results.
- Continuous improvement activities to enhance safety and efficiency.
Key Skills:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology, aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to work on-site 100% of the time with occasional travel.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds.
- Research and data analysis skills.
- Independent work and prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of LabView, NI DAQ, and other data acquisition systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- High mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
