Summary: The Test Analyst role involves performing high-quality test design and execution as part of a team in Newcastle. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and support for the Test Manager in coordinating testing activities. Candidates must possess SC clearance eligibility and relevant testing certifications. The role is structured as a single-stage process for a 6-month contract, classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day test design, execution and associated activities to high quality standards
- Take ownership of tasks and responsibilities both individually and/or as part of a broad team of testers, including customers and external parties
- Assist and support the Test Manager with scheduling, coordinating and prioritising day-to-day test activities
- Work closely with infrastructure, service-management, design and development colleagues to continually share knowledge and seek solutions
- Support and participate in non-functional testing, eg performance and capacity/load
- Support and participate in dynamic operational acceptance & service management testing
- Support and participate in static testing / QA of ‘operational documentation’
- Identify and collate valid test evidence
- Maintain test records and assets using Jira
- Contribute to incident triage and Defect Review Boards
- Assist with producing Test Plans and Test Completion Reports
- Contribute to determining environment readiness and raising objections
- Assist the Test and Project Managers with accurate and timely reporting of progress and RAID
Key Skills:
- Eligibility for SC clearance and have no impediment to obtaining it
- Possess an ISTQB CTAL Certificate appropriate for their role (Test Analyst, Technical Test Analyst)
- Demonstrate pragmatism and efficiency in the testing role without compromising integrity
- Demonstrate confidence to raise issues and negotiate resolutions without compromising independence
- Demonstrate experience of testing UIs and non-UI applications
- Demonstrate experience of interrogating complex databases using SQL
- Demonstrate experience of testing based on agile methodologies
- Demonstrate experience of liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with using Jira or similar ALM tools
- Experience of using automation or other supportive tools
- Adhere to company and programme policies, strategies and practices regarding testing and assurance
- Familiarity with ISO29119 and its precedents, including the ISTQB Glossary of Terms
