Summary: The Test Analyst role involves joining a large organization in Birmingham to assist with a significant project, requiring a hybrid working arrangement of two days on-site per week. The position is focused on ensuring quality across software development projects through comprehensive testing and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing test plans, executing tests, and managing defects using Azure DevOps. This role is offered on a rolling three-month contract basis, with an inside IR35 classification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret technical documentation, ensuring a clear understanding of quality requirements across software development projects.
- Translate functional requirements and specifications into comprehensive, well-structured test cases.
- Develop detailed Test Plans, Test Strategies and regular Status Reports.
- Lead daily triage sessions during test execution phases, ensuring effective defect management and prioritisation.
- Perform manual testing across a range of software products, including system, integration and regression testing.
- Execute test cases, analyse results and provide clear, actionable feedback to stakeholders.
- Report, log, track and manage defects using Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Development, Product and Business stakeholders) to ensure quality is Embedded throughout the software development life cycle.
- Proactively identify, manage and escalate risks and issues where appropriate.
- Support multiple concurrent project/test cycles, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Test Analyst or Test Lead within a software development environment.
- Strong background in manual testing, including system, integration and regression testing.
- Experience managing multiple projects or test cycles simultaneously.
- Familiarity with test automation tools and approaches (desirable).
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks.
- ISTQB Practitioner certification (or minimum Foundation level).
