Summary: The Temporary Works Designer will play a crucial role in major wastewater infrastructure projects in Leeds and Preston, focusing on temporary works design within the water sector. This contract position requires expertise in compliance with relevant regulations and collaboration with various stakeholders. The role involves conducting structural analysis and ensuring health and safety standards are met throughout the design process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and review temporary works designs for wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, BS 5975, Eurocodes, and other relevant standards.
• Collaborate with site teams, contractors, and third-party consultants to provide engineering support.
• Conduct structural analysis and feasibility studies for temporary works solutions such as scaffolding, shoring, propping, formwork, and access systems.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure designs prioritise health and safety.
• Support site inspections and audits, providing guidance on best practices for temporary works.
• Liaise with Temporary Works Coordinators (TWC) to ensure correct implementation of designs.

Key Skills:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in temporary works design within water, utilities, or heavy civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5975 (Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Tedds, or similar design software.
• Experience with load calculations, structural integrity checks, and stability assessments.
• Ability to work remotely with occasional site visits in the Thames/London/Southern region.
• Chartered or near-chartered status (ICE/IStructE) is desirable but not essential.
