Summary: The Temporary Works Design Engineer will be responsible for representing the design department in meetings, liaising with project teams, and ensuring compliance with design procedures. The role involves preparing conceptual and detailed designs, checking the work of others, and maintaining design trackers. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction methods, particularly in rail projects, and hold relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Representing the design department at internal and external meetings.
• Liaising with other departments and project teams regarding design requirements.
• Acting as the key point of contact when appointed as Designer on specific tasks.
• Arranging and undertaking site visits as necessary.
• Ensuring work is carried out in accordance with correct procedures.
• Preparing conceptual designs for safe, practical, and economic solutions.
• Preparing detailed designs in accordance with current standards and codes.
• Checking design work of team members and external designers.
• Maintaining design trackers with up-to-date data.
• Identifying and sharing opportunities for process improvements.
• Taking a proactive approach to training and professional development.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience in method-related construction methods.
• Knowledge of BS5975 and understanding of temporary works in project delivery.
• Experience working on rail projects and knowledge of NR Engineering Assurance standards.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject.
• Chartered membership of ICE and/or IStructE.
• Construction site experience (desirable).
• Knowledge of digital construction processes (desirable).
• Experience in training and coaching (desirable).
• Ability to manage a team (desirable).
• Experience as a CRE-D on rail projects (desirable).
