Summary: This role is for a Temporary Works Coordinator on a long-term iconic rail project in West Yorkshire, requiring extensive experience in managing the Temporary Works process for large civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a multifunctional background in various civil structures and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Temporary Works procedures and regulations. The position is classified as inside IR35, indicating the need for adherence to specific employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend meetings with the site team to determine suitable construction methodologies and solutions in accordance with TW procedures and regulations.
  • Create design briefs and ensure all required information is passed on to the Designers.
  • Liaise with Designers to ensure designs are completed and implemented in line with the program.
  • Attend regular Temporary Works design review meetings to monitor design progress.
  • Ensure on-site supervision/construction receives full design details, highlighting significant risks and design limitations.
  • Attend regular Temporary Works Coordinator meetings to assist in other work areas if required.
  • Check the implementation and maintenance of the works.
  • Maintain the TW register/documentation within site management systems.
  • Register or record drawings, calculations, and other relevant documents related to the final design.
  • Ensure successful demobilisation of the temporary works.
  • Issue relevant permits and certificates.
  • Manage TW Supervisors.

Key Skills:

  • Civil/Structural Engineering qualification preferred.
  • Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on major Civils projects for tier one Principal Civil Engineering Contractors.
  • Technical knowledge to identify/extract correct information for design briefs.
  • Above average knowledge of “Civ 003” Network Rail standards and Assurance processes.
  • Completion of a CITB or similar accredited TWC course recently.
  • PTS, AP, and rail experience preferred but not essential.
  • CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid certifications.

Detailed Description From Employer:

A long term, inside IR35, opportunity exists on an iconic rail project in West Yorkshire for a career civil Temporary Works Coordinator. Your experience in managing the complete TW process for numerous sections simultaneously on a large civil engineering infrastructure project (preferably a rail project) for a tier one / principal contractors, would be advantageous.

Your experience must be multifunctional and include RC civil structures (not RC frames), working platforms, haul roads, formwork, retaining walls, tunnel, culverts, propping, site fencing, excavations, outrigger foundations, lifting operations, slope stability etc for both the site delivery teams and nominated subcontractors.

Duties include but not limited to -

  • Attending meetings with the site team to determine most suitable construction methodology and solution in accordance with TW procedures and regulations.
  • Create design briefs and ensure all the required information is passed on to the Designers.
  • Liaise with Designers to ensure design are completed and implemented in line with the program
  • Attend regular Temporary Works design review meetings to monitor progress on the designs to ensure they will be available for use when the site team needs them.
  • Ensure that those responsible for on-site supervision/construction receive full design details with significant risks and design limitations are highlighted.
  • Attend regular Temporary Works Co-ordinator meetings to gain an overview on what work is ongoing on the project and be able to assist in other work areas if required.
  • Check the implementation and maintenance of the works.
  • Ensure TW register/documentation is adequately maintained within the site management systems.
  • Register or record the drawings, calculations and other relevant documents relating to the final design.
  • Ensure the successful demobilisation of the temporary works.
  • Issue relevant permits and certificates
  • Manage TW Supervisors

Requirements for this position -

  • Civil/Structural Engineering qualification preferred.
  • Experience as a career TWC on major Civils projects for tier one Principal Civil Engineering Contractor which also included many nominated subcontractors.
  • Demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to identify/extract the correct information required to formulate the design brief as required by the Designers.
  • Above average knowledge of “Civ 003” Network Rail standards as well as the Assurance process.
  • Must have completed a CITB or similar accredited TWC course recently.
  • PTS, AP and rail experience is preferred but not essential.
  • CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid.
