Summary: The Temporary Management Accountant will oversee the finance function within the Material Handling business, providing timely insights to support decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the finance function and provide accurate, timely insights for decision-making.
  • Lead reporting and oversee day-to-day finance operations.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts in line with group formats and reporting deadlines.
  • Support a small finance team covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, and administration.
  • Oversee all financial ledgers, ensuring timely reconciliation after period close.
  • Prepare month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Produce interim and year-end financial reporting packs in line with accounting policies.
  • Support the production of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors and tax advisers.
  • Take responsibility for credit control and monitor aged debt.
  • Complete financial and government returns, including VAT submissions.
  • Produce variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
  • Prepare monthly reports on product group contribution and performance.
  • Deliver maintenance, customer profitability, margin, and engineering utilisation reporting.
  • Identify and present financial performance reports to senior management.
  • Support wider finance cover and maintain confidentiality and compliance.

About This Role

As a Temporary Management Accountant within our Material Handling business, you will take full ownership of the finance function and provide accurate, timely insight to support decision making across the business. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will lead reporting, oversee day to day finance operations, and ensure strong financial control throughout the organisation. Preparing monthly management accounts in line with group formats and reporting deadlines. Leading and supporting a small finance team covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, and administration. Overseeing all financial ledgers, including fixed assets, sales ledger, and purchase ledger, ensuring timely reconciliation after period close. Preparing month end journals, accruals, and prepayments. Producing interim and year end financial reporting packs in line with internal and external accounting policies. Supporting the production of statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors and tax advisers. Taking overall responsibility for credit control, including monitoring aged debt and supporting timely customer payments. Completing financial and government returns, including VAT and other regulatory submissions. Producing variance analysis against budget and prior periods, highlighting key risks and opportunities. Preparing monthly reports on product group contribution, utilisation, rentals, rates, and fleet performance. Producing monthly flash forecasts within agreed timescales. Delivering maintenance, customer profitability, margin, and engineering utilisation reporting. Proactively identifying, writing, and presenting financial performance reports to senior management. Supporting wider finance cover where required and maintaining confidentiality and compliance at all times.
