Summary: The Temporary Accommodation Scheme Officer will support vulnerable individuals within Solihull's Homeless Service by managing temporary accommodation and assisting service users in achieving independent living. This role involves maintaining high-quality accommodation services, conducting welfare checks, and collaborating with support agencies to address complex needs. The officer will also handle Housing Benefit claims and ensure compliance with housing regulations. This position is a 12-week contract with a focus on community impact and support for homeless applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a high-quality, customer-focused accommodation service for homeless applicants
- Maintain regular contact with residents and carry out welfare, room, and health & safety checks
- Support applicants with Housing Benefit claims and move-on accommodation
- Complete and maintain accurate records, risk assessments, and PEEPs
- Ensure residents understand their licence agreements, rights, and responsibilities
- Work in partnership with support agencies to address complex needs including mental health and substance misuse
- Manage void processes and liaise with contractors to maintain accommodation standards
Key Skills:
- Strong background in supported accommodation services, particularly with vulnerable adults
- Proven experience supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs in temporary accommodation
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Confident in conducting health and safety, welfare, and room checks
- Ability to manage rent arrears, resolve housing issues, and liaise with partner agencies
- Strong IT, communication, and organisational skills
