Summary: My market leading client is seeking a contract-based Telephony Engineer with current eDV clearance to assist with a major implementation programme for a secure customer. The role requires expertise in configuring and deploying telephony solutions and supporting migration activities. Suitable candidates must be available to start within a few weeks and possess a strong background in telephony engineering. The position is hybrid based in the Southwest of England.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, test, and deploy telephony solutions (e.g., SIP, VoIP, SBCs, MS Teams Phone, call routing platforms).
  • Support migration activities such as number porting, handset swaps, legacy system decommissioning, and endpoint onboarding.
  • Investigate and resolve telephony incidents, call routing issues, and integration faults with adjacent systems.
  • Review and document existing telephony architecture, dependencies, and site-specific configurations.
  • Support the build and configuration of gateways, trunks, and voice policies.
  • Deliver work packages aligned to the Telephony Transformation Programme plan.
  • Support discovery activities, site audits, and data gathering for migration planning.
  • Work with suppliers, network teams, and managed service partners during design and implementation.
  • Support cutover planning, dress rehearsals, pilot rollouts, and phased site migrations.
  • Ensure delivery aligns to service design, security, and technical governance requirements.
  • Conduct functional testing, call-flow testing, failover tests, and user acceptance support.
  • Validate telephony routing, voicemail integrations, hunt groups, and contact centre configurations.
  • Produce detailed test documentation, results, and remediation actions.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in configuring, testing, and deploying telephony solutions.
  • Knowledge of SIP, VoIP, SBCs, MS Teams Phone, and call routing platforms.
  • Ability to support migration activities and resolve telephony incidents.
  • Strong documentation skills for telephony architecture and configurations.
