Role Description
The Telecoms Test Engineer will work on testing activities for telecommunications projects, focusing on ensuring the quality and reliability of modernized systems and services.
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and reviewing test plans, developing and maintaining test cases, executing functional and non-functional tests, and documenting results in line with project standards.
- Create test scripts from Test Plans, High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) for network infrastructure — routers, switches and firewalls.
- Execute test cases across the full telecoms estate: hosting, data centre, LAN/WiFi, SD-WAN, fixed connectivity, mobility, telephony, UC & Unity, MPN & cloud, IoT, cloud & security, and service transition.
- Support all test phases: Unit, System Integration, Functional, Non-Functional, Disaster Recovery and Operational Acceptance Testing.
The role involves collaborating with project managers, business analysts, and technical teams to clarify requirements, track defects, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to test automation where applicable.
This is a contract role based in London, Reading, Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow, offered on a hybrid basis, combining on-site work with some work-from-home flexibility.
The engineer will be expected to meet agreed timelines, follow established testing processes, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.
