The WMG SME Group are seeking to appoint a design led Technology Transfer Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team to assist in the delivery of our SME Programmes. This position will help manufacturing SME’s become more productive and competitive. The group aims to accelerate SME economic growth through research-led innovation. We build strong sustainable and collaborative relationships with SME businesses and partner organisations. We are looking for an experienced hands-on Product/Industrial Designer to work with local manufacturers to help create new product, improve their existing designs and speed up their New Product Development cycle. You should be degree level qualified in a relevant subject and have applied industrial experience. Be skilled in carrying out the design and development of new product and making manufacturing recommendations before implementing them within the client environment. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are also required.
About You
The successful candidate will have a background in Product/Industrial Design and one or more of the following: Computer-aided design (CAD) Design for Manufacture including manufacturing of polymer products. Design for Assembly. Mechanical design/engineering. Experience of prototyping specifically Additive Manufacture.
You Should Be Able To
- Communicate your expertise, knowledge and experience - from boardroom to technician
- Apply your knowledge to the development of new product, physical prototypes and manufacturing processes.
- Make use of relevant technologies and computer software to support innovation design solutions.
- Work on multiple concurrent projects with short timescales (typically 10-15 days).
