Summary: The role of Technical Writer involves collaborating with subject matter experts and technicians to document technical information related to electrical engineering tests and results for a leading HVDC grid developer. The position requires producing high-quality technical documentation and ensuring compliance with standards. This contract role is based in Staffordshire and offers a hybrid working arrangement. The contract is for 12 months and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and technicians to collect and accurately document technical information related to electrical engineering tests and results.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including test reports, user manuals, and technical specifications.
- Conduct reviews to ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
- Translate complex technical data into clear, understandable content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure all documentation reflects the latest changes in processes, technologies, and standards.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of documentation standards and best practices.
- Manage and maintain documents within a documentation management system.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a technical writer within an electrical engineering or related technical environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to present complex information clearly.
- Familiarity with documentation management systems and technical authoring tools.
- Comfortable working in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience with electrical engineering concepts and terminology.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in technical writing.
