Technical Systems Analyst - SQL

Summary: The Technical Systems Analyst - SQL role involves enhancing a critical business platform by analyzing and improving legacy systems while facilitating the transition to cloud-based solutions. The position requires strong SQL expertise and collaboration with various teams to refine operational requirements and resolve system performance issues. The role is initially for 6 months and is classified as outside IR35. The working arrangement is hybrid, based in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse existing data processes and platform infrastructure
• Collaborate with Product Owner and Ops teams to refine and prioritise backlog
• Translate operational requirements into clear, detailed technical specifications
• Investigate and resolve system performance issues, such as optimising SQL stored procedures
• Maintain and update technical documentation throughout the lifecycle
• Evaluate root causes of issues and scope out potential solutions for engineering teams

Key Skills:

• Proven experience in Technical BA or Systems Analyst roles within data-intensive environments
• Advanced SQL skills with a strong understanding of stored procedures and database performance tuning
• Experience reviewing and modernising technical documentation
• Familiarity with Microsoft-based environments; exposure to legacy systems will be beneficial
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate effectively with engineering and operations teams
• Experience working on cloud migration or platform improvement projects is highly beneficial
