Summary: The Technical SQL Developer role involves designing, developing, and maintaining SQL queries and ETL pipelines for a leading company in the Insurance industry based in London. The position requires collaboration with analytics teams and a focus on optimizing performance and scalability of data processes. The candidate will also be responsible for creating technical documentation and supporting operational reporting systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Build and manage reliable ETL pipelines using SQL and SSIS.
- Optimise SQL code and ETL workflows for performance and scalability.
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages for accurate data processing.
- Support operational reporting systems by resolving user issues.
- Assist in the development of .NET/Windows services for data processing tasks (preferred).
- Carry out data profiling, source-to-target mapping, and quality checks.
- Work closely with analytics teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Follow best practices in database design and coding; contribute to code reviews.
- Create clear technical documentation for data processes and workflows.
Key Skills:
- Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Economics.
- At least 5 years' experience in SQL development.
- Advanced skills in writing complex SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Solid hands-on experience with SSIS and ETL development.
- Knowledge of BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, SSAS) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in fast-paced, agile environments with a proactive approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively within global and culturally diverse teams.

Optimise SQL code and ETL workflows to enhance performance and scalability.

Support operational reporting systems by resolving issues raised by users and stakeholders.
