Summary: The Technical SQL Developer role involves designing, developing, and maintaining SQL queries and ETL pipelines within a leading insurance consulting firm in London. The position requires extensive experience in SQL development and a strong understanding of data integration and transformation processes. The successful candidate will work closely with analytics teams and contribute to the optimization of database performance and scalability. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Build and manage reliable ETL pipelines using SQL and SSIS.
- Optimise SQL code and ETL workflows for performance and scalability.
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages for accurate data processing.
- Support operational reporting systems and resolve user issues.
- Assist in the development of .NET/Windows services for data processing tasks (preferred).
- Conduct data profiling, source-to-target mapping, and quality checks.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Follow best practices in database design and coding; contribute to code reviews.
- Create clear technical documentation for data processes and workflows.
Key Skills:
- Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Economics).
- At least 5 years' experience in SQL development.
- Advanced skills in writing complex SQL and performance tuning.
- Solid hands-on experience with SSIS and ETL development.
- Knowledge of BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, SSAS) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in fast-paced, agile environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively within global and culturally diverse teams.
