Summary: A leading British digital publisher is looking for a Technical SEO Specialist on a temporary contract to enhance organic visibility and site performance. The role involves conducting technical SEO audits, developing an SEO roadmap, and collaborating with developers to implement fixes. This position is hybrid, requiring three days a week in the London Bridge office, and is classified as inside IR35. The contract duration is six months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits for large, content-rich domains, especially post-migration.
  • Identify indexation gaps, crawl inefficiencies, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Develop and deliver a prioritised SEO roadmap, including quick wins, mid-term fixes, and strategic recommendations.
  • Define and track measurable success metrics (crawl efficiency, visibility, indexation, Core Web Vitals).
  • Collaborate closely with internal developers via Jira to scope, deliver, and validate technical fixes.
  • Offer technical guidance on HTML, JavaScript, CSS, structured data, schema, and canonicalisation.
  • Advise on emerging search trends, including Google Zero and AI-driven search experiences.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience leading enterprise-level SEO projects for large, content-rich clients (Preferably Publishers, News, and Media).
  • Proficiency with Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Botify, and related SEO tools.
  • Deep understanding of site architecture, crawling, and indexation management.
  • Hands-on experience optimising Core Web Vitals and site performance.
  • Strong technical literacy across HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Comfortable working with APIs (eg, Search Console Inspection API, Google Sheets Scripting).
  • Experience with log file analysis to identify crawl inefficiencies and anomalies.
  • Demonstrated success in SEO migrations, crawl budget optimisation, and topic/tag management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product managers, and delivery teams.
