Summary: The role is for a Technical Senior/Lead Agile Delivery Manager who will oversee agile delivery for software engineering teams in a hybrid setting, primarily based in Newcastle or Leeds. The position requires hands-on experience in software development and the ability to influence technical delivery decisions. The contract is set to last until March 2026, with a possibility of extension. The candidate will engage closely with engineers and manage various aspects of agile delivery, including sprint planning and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead agile delivery for multiple software engineering teams, acting as Scrum Master
- Own sprint planning, execution and delivery of sprint goals
- Work day-to-day with developers, DevOps and architects to understand technical work and constraints
- Challenge estimates, priorities and technical approaches to protect delivery outcomes
- Manage technical risks, cross-team dependencies and blockers
- Maintain ordered backlogs aligned to OKRs and technical roadmaps
- Provide clear delivery reporting and stakeholder communication
- Drive continuous improvement through pragmatic agile delivery
Key Skills:
- Proven leadership at SFIA Level 6
- Recent applied experience in a software development environment
- Strong ability to engage credibly with engineers and push back constructively
- Experience delivering complex technical initiatives across multiple workstreams
- Excellent planning, coordination and influencing capability
- Jira (team and programme level), ServiceNow
- Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, Terraform, Git branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines
