Summary: The Technical QA Engineer (Automation) role focuses on ensuring high-quality delivery within an Agile development environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Define strategies to increase automated test coverage across existing code and integrations.
- Create and maintain automated regression test packs for new and updated software.
- Design functional and non-functional acceptance tests from detailed specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing QA estimates and contributing to sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
- Execute and analyse test results, documenting defects, risks and issues.
- Support integration of automation into the Agile delivery lifecycle and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage test environments, including merging pull requests and coordinating production change requests.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience designing and developing automation frameworks using C#, SpecFlow/ReqnRoll and TFS.
- SQL proficiency for writing queries and analysing large data sets.
- Experience using BDD tools such as SpecFlow, Cucumber or FitNesse to build robust automation packs.
- Ability to write clear, maintainable Gherkin scenarios and develop supporting step definitions in C#.
- Understanding of when to automate versus when to test manually.
- Proven experience in data-focused testing, including data flow, mapping, and numerical comparison testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within Agile teams.
- Familiar with ALM tools such as TFS, Mingle, Jira or Rally.
