Summary: The Technical Manager will lead a team in delivering technical services within the Facilities Services division of a major UK engineering firm. This role involves ensuring efficient service performance, training engineering staff, and managing compliance with statutory requirements. The manager will also focus on improving energy consumption and operational efficiency while maintaining strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in provision of technical service delivery by monitoring service performance and taking corrective action.
  • Coordinate available resources to achieve technical and innovative solutions.
  • Train and guide engineering resources to enhance technical knowledge and capability.
  • Lead the team to achieve contract sustainability objectives and improve energy consumption.
  • Produce extra work reports and quotations for system defects.
  • Support delivery of the Company Compliance Policy and statutory requirements.
  • Provide effective technical support for Major Bowl Event preparation and delivery.
  • Coordinate implementation of standard operational processes across the contract.
  • Ensure continued service and efficiency improvement for the client.
  • Ensure risk mitigation measures are in place for assets and systems.
  • Ensure staff are suitably trained and competency is regularly assessed.
  • Develop and maintain technical and regulatory standards for maintenance and project design.
  • Utilize Company and Customer CAFM systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop relationships with customers to identify additional work opportunities.
  • Carry out any reasonable tasks assigned by the line manager for service delivery.

Key Skills:

  • Mechanical or HVAC competency and qualification (HNC/HND or similar).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of operating and maintaining systems such as BMS, HVAC Plant, Water Systems, etc.
  • Experience in driving exceptional technical delivery.
  • Management experience of staff and subcontractors.
  • Track record of success in supporting major business contracts.
  • Over 10 years of managerial and technical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills.

Job Role:           Technical Manager

Salary:               60K  - 65K per annum

Our client is the UK’s largest independent engineering and services business. Its Facilities Services division provides mechanical, electrical, and integrated building maintenance. The company offers a national footprint with strong regional presence to ensure commercial spaces, public infrastructure, and retail sites operate efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Basic Duties:

  • Lead the team in provision of technical service delivery by monitoring service performance, taking corrective action when necessary and escalating to the Operations Manager as appropriate.
  • Effective co-ordination of available resources to achieve technical and innovative solutions.
  • Training and guidance of engineering resource to enhance technical knowledge and capability through regular engagement, implementation of training plans and effective leadership.
  • Focal point leading the team to achieve contract sustainability objectives to improve energy consumption through operational enhancement, whilst seeking out efficient technologies and scoping proposals for consideration
  • Produce extra work reports and quotations to ensure that system defects are notified to our customer with cost effective solutions in place to bring systems and assets back into operation.
  • Support delivery of the Company Compliance Policy and statutory requirements for all systems and services within the service scope.
  • Provide effective technical support to the team to assist with Major Bowl Event preparation, delivery and post Event activities ensuring that system uptime is retained.
  • Provide management on site as part of the wider management team during Major Bowl Events.
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of standard operational processes across the contract, identifying gaps and working to close out.
  • Ensure continued service & efficiency improvement providing the client with innovative service ‘value add’ and interaction.
  • Ensure technical operation commitments are met.
  • Ensure risk mitigation measures are in place for the assets and systems within scope, including Permit to Work procedures, RAMS, SOP’s and EOP’s.
  • Ensure staff are suitably trained and competency is regularly assessed.
  • Ensure that all engineers are trained and competent to carry out their role and there are adequate Authorised Persons available to operate the site.
  • Develop and maintain technical and regulatory standards and requirements for maintenance & project design through the constant updating and implementation of effective processes policies and procedures throughout the company.
  • Be fully conversant with the varied Company and Operational processes and procedures across all aspects of contract delivery.
  • Utilise the Company and Customer CAFM systems to ensure data integrity retained.
  • Develop relationships with customers to be able to identify additional work opportunities, escalating to the Operations Manager as appropriate.
  • Develop and populate the site technical risk register
  • Carry out any reasonable tasks assigned by your line manager for the service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical or HVAC competency and qualification achieved via higher education degree (HNC/HND) or similar, with demonstrable knowledge and experience of operating and maintaining systems such as BMS, HVAC Plant, Water Systems, Pipework Systems, Refrigeration Systems, Pumps and the like.
  • Experience of driving forward exceptional technical delivery by self and through others.
  • Experience in the management of staff and subcontractors.
  • Track record of success in supporting major business contracts and/or providing technical support to a professional function.
  • Likely to have in excess of 10 years managerial and technical experience.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Good IT skills.

Working Hours: 8.00am - 5.00pm with one hour lunch break. Flexibility required to do overtime to cover events and emergency breakdown
