Who You Are / Your Next Challenge At moneycorp we are building a banking platform delivering customer centric payment solutions enabling customers to seamlessly execute cross-border payments through technical innovation integrations. Our technical teams bring industry leading technical excellence, alongside innovative, product aligned architecture teams and brand builders to be globally successful. You will be a lead technical authority in our core team aligned to App Hosting, working with highly skilled DevOps engineers in a collaborative, vibrant environment, delivering software across our global tech hubs. Innovation is at the heart of what we do with lots of collaboration and knowledge sharing opportunities and interesting solutions to build and problems to solve. You will always be learning and will have ownership and accountability around what you do.

Key areas of focus will be:

  • Demonstrate Technical Mastery: Exhibit proficiency in a wide range of DevOps tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes delivered through Azure Red hat OpenShift, Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform. Show strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or Go, and be capable of implementing infrastructure as code.
  • Lead and Collaborate Effectively: Lead cross-functional teams with a collaborative approach, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organisation.
  • Solve Problems Strategically: Approach problem-solving with a strategic mindset, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Analyse complex systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability, contributing to the overall improvement of the organisation's operations.
  • Innovate and Adapt: Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, demonstrating a forward-thinking mindset. Adapt to changing environments and implement innovative solutions that drive the organisation forward.

  • Develop Strategic Plans: Build and contribute to the DevOps strategy, aligning it with organisational goals. Develop roadmaps and set milestones for continuous improvement, ensuring the strategy is effectively implemented and maintained.
  • Build Capability: Enhance the DevOps capability within the organisation by training and mentoring engineers. Promote best practices and the adoption of new technologies, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Inspire and Motivate Teams: Manage engineers both direct reports and across cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best performance, driving projects to successful completion.
  • Implement and Maintain IDP: Providing our cross functional feature teams with the ability to provision, deploy, scale and manage their systems through implementing an Internal Development Platform (IDP). Collaborate closely with Platform Engineering teams to ensure the platform architectures lower down can be leveraged into an effective product for the feature teams via the IDP.

What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role

Knowledge and Experience: Broad cross-platform technology background. 7+ years commercial DevOps experience - We like a mix of experience in our teams; start-ups, big banks, agencies and software houses all have their place. Customer and product focused - know what we deliver affects end users; an evangelist and advocate of a ‘DevOps’ culture and working practices. Strong previous leadership experience. Display a strong interest in shaping ways of working. Proven track record of introducing technical change into an organisation. Whilst we have .NET at the core of our stack, we’re pragmatic about other technologies and open-minded about your technology background. We like a polyglots, we like those who are able to apply the best tools for the job and can reason about why.

Technical Exposure Experience with virtualisation technologies Experience with cloud infrastructure/ provisioning (IAC) - Azure (preferred)/AWS & Terraform. Experience implementing and scaling Configuration-as-Code – Ansible (preferred)/Puppet/Powershell DCS. Experience across Windows / Linux (Debian/Ubuntu and/or Fedora/RHEL). Strong experience with scripting languages: PowerShell / Bash / Python. Experience building CI/CD pipelines for APIs / SPAs / Mobile Apps – Azure DevOps & TeamCity Experience with containerisation, Docker and container orchestration. Advanced experience of git, and industry standard git-based workflows (git flow, trunk based etc.) Knowledge of Cloud Native architectural design patterns. Experience with SQL Server, Elastic, EventStore, DB change control. Experience with automated testing approaches and frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, contract testing etc.). Experience implementing ‘shift left’ security tooling (Grype/Kubescape/Azure Defender/SonarQube etc.). Experience with Atlassian suite. Experience supporting performance and pen testing. Experience building and refining release Management processes. Experience working in an Agile environment Experience applying and supporting APM Exposure to financial systems beneficial

Education: 2:2+ Degree level preferable, ideally computing science or equivalent

This position is full-time, permanent. The role is expected to be office-based in London as part of the IT Development team. However, we have an agile flexible working policy which enables you to work up to 2 days from home if desired.
