Summary: We are looking for a Technical Consultant with extensive experience in Kong API Gateway to join our team in Stratford. The role involves designing, building, and optimizing API gateway capabilities while ensuring high performance and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in API lifecycle management and hands-on expertise in configuring and managing Kong Gateway components. This position is suited for someone who can collaborate effectively with various teams to align API strategies with broader platform objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide extensive hands-on expertise in Kong Gateway, including configuration, optimisation, and lifecycle management.
- Design, develop, and maintain API solutions using Kong Gateway (Konnect / Enterprise).
- Configure and manage key gateway components: Services, Routes, Consumers, Plugins, and Upstreams.
- Implement robust API security using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, Basic Auth, and API Keys.
- Design and enforce rate limiting, throttling, and traffic control policies to ensure reliable API performance.
- Develop and maintain custom Kong plugins using Lua, ensuring correct lifecycle management, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and development teams to align API gateway strategy with broader platform objectives.
- (Optional) Leverage knowledge of AWS, Terraform, API testing, and DevOps practices to enhance automation and deployment processes.
