About the Position: 



We are currently recruiting for a Technical Buyer / Material Controller on behalf of our client, a renowned automotive brand, to join their Prototype Engineering and Supply Chain Team. This is a contract role focused on supporting the delivery of early-phase prototype builds. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical buying and material control of carry-over and non-stock part demand. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the individual will ensure that part demand is met and goods are delivered on time to meet build requirements.



Job Responsibilities:




  • Assist with the procurement of both stock and non-stock parts for the Prototype Team s needs.

  • Support a lean approach to purchasing, ensuring key objectives are achieved efficiently.

  • Monitor and assess supplier performance, coordinating with internal teams for improvements.

  • Collaborate with the wider purchasing and logistics teams, promoting a collaborative approach to meet team goals.

  • Track and follow up on requisitions to ensure timely budget approval and part delivery.

  • Work alongside the Prototype Build Team to deliver builds that meet cost, quality, and time targets.

  • Coordinate stock demands from the initial request through to lineside delivery.

  • Engage with Material Planners & Controllers to agree on part release timing.

  • Ensure all tracking documentation is updated and maintained accurately.





Skills and Experience Required:




  • Experience working across multiple commodities in Automotive, Motorsport, or Engineering environments.

  • Proven commercial success in supply chain, procurement, or technical buying roles.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to work under pressure, with clear and decisive decision-making.

  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving team goals within aggressive timelines.

  • Experience in using CAD systems (preferably CATIA) for part reviews.

  • Strong IT skills, particularly with MS Office (Excel expertise is essential).

  • Previous experience in material planning and control is preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAP systems is a plus.
