Summary: FDM is seeking a Technical Business Analyst for a 5-month hybrid contract role in Leeds, focused on a complex data and systems migration project within the public sector. The role involves bridging technical and business domains, particularly in transitioning from legacy systems to new architectures, including DynamoDB and API-driven integrations. The successful candidate will be responsible for eliciting requirements, creating data mapping documents, and leading agile workshops. Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit and document complex functional and non-functional requirements
  • Create detailed data mapping documents between legacy systems and new structures
  • Maintain clear 'As-Is' and 'To-Be' system/process flows
  • Develop epics and user stories with testable acceptance criteria
  • Lead agile workshops to resolve technical and integration challenges
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and senior business stakeholders
  • Support assurance processes and produce artefacts like feasibility reports and options analyses

Key Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst on at least one large-scale, complex data or systems migration project
  • Experience working with legacy systems, including data mapping, indexing, and migration to cloud-based or NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
  • Demonstrated experience in agile, cross-functional teams delivering technical solutions
  • Exposure to software development life cycles and modern development practices
  • Hands-on experience in writing and owning data mapping documentation and working closely with technical teams for implementation
  • Strong ability to elicit, analyse, and document complex functional and non-functional requirements
  • Proficient in writing user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria
  • Deep understanding of data structures, legacy systems, and API-driven integrations
  • Ability to analyse and map data from legacy systems to modern databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
  • Capable of interpreting technical architecture and translating it into business impacts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Confident in using agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experienced in process modeling techniques (e.g., BPMN) to highlight system interactions and improvement areas

This is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leeds.
