Summary: The Technical Business Analyst (Trade Surveillance) role at a large Investment Bank in London focuses on developing a comprehensive Trader Surveillance capability. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in providing in-depth analysis of alerting scenarios, including the use of market data, source system data, order, volume, and alerting data to review alert effectiveness on a risk driven approach.
  • Pro-actively identifying potential or actual emerging risks and driving control enhancements to make sure that surveillance activities operate efficiently and provide appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Working with system vendors, internal compliance IT teams and multiple stakeholders of all levels of seniority.
  • Supporting the development, testing and implementation of a calibration review surveillance programme of work that improves and optimises alert output.
  • Understand thoroughly Surveillance system configurations.
  • Keeping up to date with changing regulations, enforcement actions, regulatory guidance and policies and feed these into the overall calibration effort.

Key Skills:

  • Trader Surveillance experience/exposure in a previous role is mandatory.
  • Experience of financial services businesses including investment banking.
  • Previous calibration experience.
  • The ability to delve into coding language is advantageous.
  • Analytical ability to apply data analysis with different data sets and various information streams.
  • Liaison with Surveillance vendors.
  • Experience with the Market Abuse Risk assessment.
  • Quantitative/Data background, relational database, SQL, Python.
  • Regulatory and conduct knowledge including Market Abuse Risk including experience with the MAR Assessment.
  • The ability to apply a technical understanding to data to solve complex problems.
  • A familiarity with the Fixed Income and Currency products, derivatives, swaps, electronic trading concepts and risks.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing.

Technical - Business Analyst - SQL - Big Data - Trade Surveillance - Alert - Calibration - Market Abuse

Technical Business Analyst (Trade Surveillance) required by large Investment Bank, based in London to work within the Bank's Finance program to create a Holistic Trader Surveillance capability. You'll assist in reviewing market abuse alerting for optimising alert calibration, ensuring alerting is enhanced, remains robust and as accurate as possible.

  • Assisting in providing in-depth analysis of alerting scenarios, including the use of market data, source system data, order, volume, and alerting data to review alert effectiveness on a risk driven approach.
  • Pro-actively identifying potential or actual emerging risks and driving control enhancements to make sure that surveillance activities operate efficiently and provide appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Working with system vendors, internal compliance IT teams and multiple stakeholders of all levels of seniority
  • Supporting the development, testing and implementation of a calibration review surveillance programme of work that improves and optimises alert output.
  • Understand thoroughly Surveillance system configurations.

Trader Surveillance experience/exposure in a previous role is mandatory. The ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of the front-to-back trade processing flows and working with Big Data (including the feeds and data quality issues). Confident, assertive, clear and effective communicator. Comfortable working in an Agile methodology, in an environment with rapid change, and pressing goals. Experience doing end-to-end product testing or data feed testing is an advantage.

You will have previous experience working in an Investment Banking environment coupled with -

  • Experience of financial services businesses including investment banking.

  • Previous calibration experience.

  • The ability to delve into coding language is advantageous.

  • Analytical ability to apply data analysis with different data sets and various information streams.
