Summary: The Technical Author role involves creating and updating technical content for Body & Equipment Mounting Manuals for a leading automotive manufacturer. The position requires proficiency in Adobe In-Design and collaboration with Subject Matter Experts to ensure accurate documentation. The author must also consider the translation of documents into multiple European languages while maintaining a customer-focused approach. This is a contract position based in Dunton, Essex, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update or create new technical content in Adobe In-Design using a documented authoring method.
  • Utilize Class Styles, Anchoring & Hyperlinks, Tables, and Image flattening.
  • Use 3D CAD data from TeamCentre / VisMockup to create layered images in Adobe Photoshop.
  • Generate new content with annotations as required and import it into Adobe In-Design.
  • Create a draft BEMM document for review and consolidate input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions to broker an agreed consensus when required.
  • Update the Adobe In-Design file in relevant sections of the BEMM once approved by SMEs.
  • Manage updates according to the BEMM loading/capacity chart and support the Senior Engineer.

Key Skills:

  • Expert in Adobe In-Design.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Catia 5, TeamCentre, VisMockup, Sharepoint, Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written & oral.

Salary (Rate): £33.81/hour

Hours: 37.5hrs p/w working on Dunton Campus - 4 days per week, and 1 WFH

Technical Author within Body & Equipment Mounting Manuals for a worldwide renowned Automotive Manufacturer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Using a documented authoring method, update or create new technical content in Adobe In-Design.
  • Must be familiar with Class Styles, Anchoring & Hyperlinks, Tables and Image flattening as a minimum.
  • Use 3D CAD data from TeamCentre / VisMockup to create layered images in Adobe Photoshop and generate new content that explains the issue / changes with annotations as required.
  • Import the new images/content into Adobe In-Design and create a draft BEMM document for review.
  • Use the draft BEMM to consolidate input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and agree the content for publication.
  • When required, facilitate cross-functional discussions to broker an agreed consensus.
  • Once approved by SMEs, update the Adobe In-Design file in the relevant section(s) of the BEMM.
  • When authoring, consider the document will be translated into 7 x European languages, and remain customer focussed throughout.
  • Work to the BEMM loading/capacity chart to manage updates and support the Senior Engineer.
