Summary
We’re recruiting five Technical Authors to join a major project based in Cumbria.
This contract role is ideal for professionals with experience in the nuclear sector who can produce accurate and compliant operational documentation.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting pre-operations activities, ensuring safety and quality across all outputs.
Salary: £40.00 per hour (Inside IR35)
Location and Working Pattern: Cumbria – Full-time on-site, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
Client Overview
Our client is delivering one of the region’s most significant nuclear projects, requiring skilled individuals to help develop the documentation and processes essential for safe operations.
Responsibilities
- Produce compliant and professional Operation, Maintenance (O&M) and emergency instructions within deadlines.
- Develop risk assessment requirements to accompany working-level instructions.
- Review and interpret engineering, design and vendor documentation to create Volume C documents.
- Conduct on-plant validation exercises and apply post-validation updates (red pen changes).
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders during plant walkdowns and site familiarisation.
- Report to the Pre-Operations Manager and provide weekly progress updates.
- Attend project progress meetings and represent the documentation team effectively.
- Maintain strict safety standards, supporting a Zero Harm culture throughout your work.
Must-have Requirements
- Proven background within the nuclear industry.
- Minimum HNC in a relevant discipline (Mechanical or Electrical).
- IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent).
- Relevant trade card or certification.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC) is essential.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Previous experience as a Technical Author.
